Appearance and features:
The Mist is of moderate size, is medium boned, rounded of head and has large eyes and ears.
Size:
This is a medium-size cat weighing 6 to 15 pounds.
Family:
The Austrailian Mist is a creation from the Burmese breed,
Abyssinian Breed and miscellaneous domestic short-haired cats to create a short-haired cat with a spotted coat.
Coloring:
Available in many colors, the most common colours are brown, blue, chocolate, lilac, gold and peach.
Origin:
The breed was developed in Australia beginning in 1976, by Truda Staede. Originally called the “Spotted Mist”, the name was changed to”Australian Mist” in 1998, when cats with marbled coats, rather than spots, were accepted as part of the breed. It is the only cat from Australia.
Temperament:
Australian Mists are tolerant of handling and are not inclined to scratch. Playful as kittens, they are less so as adults.
Health concerns:
Does not have many known illnesses and conditions.
